Milk Shampoo is one of our most popular products. It was originally made for a family member who had a scalp so itchy they went to bed with olive oil on their scalp and cling wrap around their head. It took us 6 months of trialing until we were able to banish the cling wrap to the kitchen for good.
Benefits & Features:
- A natural, gentle shampoo that looks after your hair and your scalp
- Made with a combination of coconut and glucose based cleansers
- Free from harsh synthetic detergents (SLS) that can dry out the hair
- Milk Protein helps protect hair fibres and revitalizes its natural protective layer
- Free from silicone-based ingredients that can build up and weigh hair down
- Piroctone Olamine helps maintain and control the microflora of the scalp
Ingredients:
Aqua (H₂O’s Fancy Name), Cocamidopropyl Betaine (Coconut-Derived Cleanser), Decyl Glucoside (Glucose-Derived Cleanser), Lauryl Glucoside (Glucose-Derived Cleanser), Glycol Distearate (Emollient), Sodium Cocoyl Sarcosinate (Coconut-Derived Cleanser), Coco Glucoside (Glucose-Derived Cleanser), Glyceryl Oleate (Natural Ester), Piroctone Olamine (Olamine Salt), Fragrance - Oatmeal (Phthalate-Free), Allantoin, Hydrolysed Milk Protein (For Hair Repair). | Almost all creams made to help with blemish-prone skin use Benzoyl Peroxide bleach. This is why hair will bleach to an orange colour when in contact with most blemish creams. Bleaches are cheap, but not the first choice in keeping skin looking young and healthy.
There can be a number of causes of blemishes, including sebum (skin's oil) becoming rancid, as well as bacteria on the skin causing pores to become infected. This is why an effective cleansing cream that targets both using natural ingredients is so much better than using bleach, in our opinion.
That’s why we set out to find a solution that was effective and good for the skin. We decided to take a different approach and create a cleansing cream that also works as a moisturiser. It may cost a few dollars more for us to make this cream than a bleach-based one, but healthy skin is priceless. | Details
Many commercial brands of goat's milk soap use powdered milk. The best ones use fresh goats milk. Goats milk soap is especially suited to those people with very sensitive skin. We think that it is the mildest way to remove old oil and grease from the skin.
Note: These are big bars of Milk Soap (130g) so they last longer. Some people with smaller hands or children may find it easier if the bar is cut into two pieces.
Ingredients:
Caprae Lac (Goats Milk), Sodium Olivate (Saponified Olive Oil), Sodium Cocoate (Saponifed Coconut Oil), Sodium Sunflowerate (Saponifed Sunflower Oil), Sodium Cocoa Butterate, Glycerin, Fragrant Oil (Phthlate Free). Ingredient Description Caprae Lac (Goats Milk) A very popular milk in traditional soap making. Great for people with irritable skin. Sodium Olivate (Saponified Olive Oil) Wonderfully healthy for the skin. So many benefits, it might be best to Google "Olive Oil Skin" instead. Sodium Cocoate (Saponifed Coconut Oil) We used coconut oil as a stabiliser, it also helps to moisturise the skin Sodium Sunflowerate (Saponifed Sunflower Oil) Sunflower Oil that has been saponified. Sunflower Oil is rich in vitamins A, D, especially vitamin E and essential fatty acids. Sunflower oil has a light texture making it very comfortable on babies’ skin. Sodium Cocoa Butterate A cream coloured fatty butter extracted from Cocoa Beans. Sometimes called the “ultimate” moisturiser, it is used to ‘superfat’ our milk soaps. This means that as you wash, some oils are left behind which is why our milk soaps have got their legendary following. Glycerin When making soap via “Cold Process” which is how we do it, natural glycerine is one of the bi-products. It is helpful to soften the skin. Fragrant Oil (Phthlate Free) We used to use various Essential Oils in our Milky Shampoo, Conditioner and Milk Wash. EO’s are great if we could talk to each customer and check for allergies. Due to the occasional reaction to EO’s, we removed them. We want to sooth people scalps and even a very small number of reactions to EO’s was distressing for us. But people still want their hair to smell nice. So we worked with another company to develop phthalate free fragrant oil (phthalates are the things in fragrances that a lot of people don’t like) and since then the response has been great.
| The finely ground oatmeal in this soap helps exfoliate the skin, and Honey is a natural antiseptic and has been shown to assist skin repair. All of this is on a buttermilk base. It just so happens that it smells like a healthy breakfast. | The problem we find with silicone is that it can build up on the hair over time, making it feel heavy and limp. This usually results in a need for a different type of shampoo to get rid of the buildup caused by these types of conditioners. Instead, we wanted to make a leave-in conditioner from natural oils that won’t build up on the hair and actually penetrate and hydrate the hair instead of just making it feel nice for a while. Using natural ingredients is not only better for your hair and scalp, it’s also much better for the environment. Ever think about what happens to your wash products after they go down the drain? Silicones and other synthetic ingredients don’t break down into their natural component easily in the water system.
Our Protein Shot Leave-In Conditioner was made to complement our Cream Conditioner after we had so many super-fan customers asking for us for it. Most conditioners are made using silicone-based ingredients (usually big words that end with –cone) that coat the hair in something slippery, making it feel silky and smooth. They do a great job of making the hair feel hydrated and easy to detangle.
