| What you wash your skin with determines so much more than whether it's clean or not. So, it’s a gosh darn mystery to us why cleansers are the most overlooked product (poor cleansers) in any skincare routine. Whilst skin needs to be clean, an overbearing cleanser can cause of dryness, irritation and even breakouts. Before you start blaming your skin troubles on everything else (although late night parties don’t do your skin any favours), there’s a more-likely culprit we can point our fingers at…the outdated commercial cleanser right under our noses. Boo!
It’s common to think that blasting your skin to oblivion with harsh detergents or bleaching ingredients will keep the blackheads at bay and stop the pimples from parading, but we’re here to tell you that stripping the skin of its natural oils just leaves it dreadfully dry, damaged and dually distressed. The sebum in our skin (natural oils that it makes) helps keep it moisturised and in fine form, but if its constantly washed away, your skin could kick into oil-making overdrive, causing cloggage and congestion which can lead to even more breakouts – not exactly the result we were going for. But it’s hard to undo decades of skincare superstitions and the hard-wired hogwash swirling around out there. Old-school untruths like using oils on your skin gives you pimples, or that skin should feel tight after it’s been cleaned.
Our skin-friendly foaming formula is made with gentle, but effective, naturally derived cleansing ingredients that pump into a dreamy, foamy, meringue-y mousse. Designed to dissolve dirt, makeup and debris from the day and clear away dead skin cells to keep your face looking fierce and feeling fresh. We steer clear of harsh ingredients like SLS that foam up well but is also found in just about every hardcore cleansing product, including floor cleaners and engine degreasers – our face says no thanks! We made this caring, non-comedogenic (aka non-clogging) cleanser so we can have all the bougie bubbles without causing any skin troubles.
It gets down and dirty to combat congestion, banishes bacteria, washes away excess oils and helps regulate oil production (a contributing factor to the formation of blemishes) to prevent the bummer of breakouts. Like the cherry to top it all off, we included some Papaya Fruit Extract to clarify the skin with gentle, enzymatic exfoliation that dives deep into pores and helps remove rough, flaky skin to ditch drabby dullness. And because we make all our products for people with sensitive skin, and blemish-prone skin is often just that, we popped in a pinch of Calendula Extract to help calm and soothe breakouts, pimples and redness. Gentle enough to be used every day, morning and night, and perfectly suitable for all ages and skin types, including the fussiest of teenagers. | The problem we find with silicone is that it can build up on the hair over time, making it feel heavy and limp. This usually results in a need for a different type of shampoo to get rid of the buildup caused by these types of conditioners. Instead, we wanted to make a leave-in conditioner from natural oils that won’t build up on the hair and actually penetrate and hydrate the hair instead of just making it feel nice for a while. Using natural ingredients is not only better for your hair and scalp, it’s also much better for the environment. Ever think about what happens to your wash products after they go down the drain? Silicones and other synthetic ingredients don’t break down into their natural component easily in the water system.
Our Protein Shot Leave-In Conditioner was made to complement our Cream Conditioner after we had so many super-fan customers asking for us for it. Most conditioners are made using silicone-based ingredients (usually big words that end with –cone) that coat the hair in something slippery, making it feel silky and smooth. They do a great job of making the hair feel hydrated and easy to detangle.

Note: These are big bars of Milk Soap (130g) so they last longer. Some people with smaller hands or children may find it easier if the bar is cut into two pieces.

Ingredient Description Caprae Lac (Goats Milk) A very popular milk in traditional soap making. Great for people with irritable skin. Sodium Olivate (Saponified Olive Oil) Wonderfully healthy for the skin. So many benefits, it might be best to Google "Olive Oil Skin" instead. Sodium Cocoate (Saponifed Coconut Oil) We used coconut oil as a stabiliser, it also helps to moisturise the skin Sodium Sunflowerate (Saponifed Sunflower Oil) Sunflower Oil that has been saponified. Sunflower Oil is rich in vitamins A, D, especially vitamin E and essential fatty acids. Sunflower oil has a light texture making it very comfortable on babies’ skin. Sodium Cocoa Butterate A cream coloured fatty butter extracted from Cocoa Beans. Sometimes called the “ultimate” moisturiser, it is used to ‘superfat’ our milk soaps. This means that as you wash, some oils are left behind which is why our milk soaps have got their legendary following. Glycerin When making soap via “Cold Process” which is how we do it, natural glycerine is one of the bi-products. It is helpful to soften the skin. Fragrant Oil (Phthlate Free) We used to use various Essential Oils in our Milky Shampoo, Conditioner and Milk Wash. EO’s are great if we could talk to each customer and check for allergies. Due to the occasional reaction to EO’s, we removed them. We want to sooth people scalps and even a very small number of reactions to EO’s was distressing for us. But people still want their hair to smell nice. So we worked with another company to develop phthalate free fragrant oil (phthalates are the things in fragrances that a lot of people don’t like) and since then the response has been great.

We believe that dual exfoliation (meaning organic acid and non-scratchy physical particles) is the most effective way to gently exfoliate. Making soothing and gentle products is always our priority, so we made this suitable for daily use, for all skin types.
Our unique formula contains a very calculated percentage (1.5%) of Salicylic Acid (BHA) which are plant-derived organic acids. These organic acids are attracted to oil and exfoliate deep into the pores. It’s the best thing for a deep cleanse and to address impurities that already exist.
We’ve also used Rice Bran powder to physically exfoliate as it has a very delicate physical structure and contains antioxidant-rich, moisturising proteins. The combination of these two magnificent exfoliating components will leave your skin noticeably fresh, glowing and soft. But wait, there’s more! We’ve also added Bentonite Clay to draw out impurities and leave your skin feeling fresh, and Marshmallow Root to soothe and calm skin. |
