Basil is a stimulating and clearing oil, useful when concentration is needed or when feeling tired and sluggish. It has a stimulating effect on the brain and nervous system; thus, it is great for nervous debility, poor concentration and mental fatigue.

Did you know: Basil has been used as a culinary and medicinal herb for centuries and is one of the main ingredients in Pesto, an Italian sauce from Genoa.

Basil will grow up to 50cm in height. This low growing herb has green leaves and small white flowers.

Citratus is found only under cultivation, particularly in Guatemala. Despite early origins in Sri Lanka and India, it is sometimes confusingly referred to as West Indian Lemongrass. The other type is Cymbopogon Flexuosus which is only cultivated in relatively limited areas of India, particularly Kerala. Try adding one drop each of Lemongrass, Lavender and Geranium to a bowl of warm water and soaking tired feet for 10 minutes. A few drops of Lemongrass and Cedarwood in an oil burner will help keep insects away during the summer months.

Myrrh is distilled from a resin which has been used since antiquity. It has a sweet, smoky, slightly musky aroma. This oil is soothing, clarifying and grounding. It is a great oil to ease a worried mind and is also used in India as a remedy for infections of the gums and teeth.
Country of Origin: Somalia. Plant Family: Burseraceae. Method of Extraction: The oil is distilled from the resin of the Myrrh tree. Main Theraputic Properties: Antibacterial, Anticatarrahal, Anti-inflammatory, Antispasmodic, Astringent, Calmative. Contraindications: Non toxic and non irritant in prescribed doses. Did you know: It is said no soldier of Ancient Greece went into battle without a paste of myrrh, ready for use on injuries Oil Appearance: Pale to Dark Amber. Chakra: Neri Chinese Element: Earth (& Metal). There are around 80 species of Commiphora, the resin is collected from these thorny shrubs which are up to 3 meters in height. Myrrh has acquired a reputation as a healer over the centuries and as such can be beneficial when used in inhalations to help ease winter ills. Place 1 drop each of Myrrh, Benzoin and Lavender in a bowl of boiling water. Drape a towel across your head and shoulders and inhale the vapours for a few minutes. Try blending 1 drop of Myrrh, 2 drops of Geranium and 1 drop of Peppermint in 10ml of Coconut oil to use as a massage oil on neglected feet. Myrrh is extremely viscous, and therefore more difficult to use. We use a larger dropper for this oil, but with time it may solidify. The only solution is to warm the oil gently in the hands before use, and to be patient!
Neroli has a subtle, sweet-floral aroma. An excellent oil to use during stressful situations to calm and soothe the mind and heart. This oil comes from the blossoms (flowers) of the bitter Orange tree.
Plant Family: Rutaceae Country of Origin: Tunisia Method of Extraction: The oil is distilled from the flowers on the Orange blossom tree. Main Theraputic Properties: Antibacterial, Aphrodisiac, Calmativem, Uterine tonic. Contraindications: Non toxic and non irritant in prescribed doses. Did you know: The name of this oil came from an Italian princess who used it as her favourite perfume. Oil Appearance: Clear to Pale Yellow. Chakra: Sacral & Heart & Brow. Chinese Element: Fire (& Wood). Also known as Orange Blossom or Neroli Bigarade, this essential oil is water distilled from the flowers of the cultivated Bitter Orange tree. The Orange flowers must be distilled immediately after picking, as they decay very quickly. Tunisia is the most highly regarded producer of this exotic floral oil. This delightful oil has been carefully distilled in Tunisia with brand new, top quality equipment by skilled and experienced distillers. The difference is apparent in the quality. For a wonderfully fragrant bath when you feel that the stresses and strains of life are too much, try blending 2 drops of Neroli, 1 drop of Jasmine and 1 drop of Clary Sage, in a teaspoonful of Peach Kernel oil and add to a very warm bath. Blend 1 drop each of Neroli, Geranium and Bergamot in 10ml of Sweet Almond oil and apply to the back and shoulders as a pre-interview massage oil. When feeling delicate and vulnerable, especially after giving birth, try 2 drops of Neroli, 1 drop of Rose, and 2 of Pettigrain to a teaspoon of Jojoba, swirl the mixture into a warm bath, lie back and let the subtle aroma bathe and soothe the emotions.

Sandalwood has become extremely difficult to get hold of due to Indian government controls.

The oil is a by-product of the use of Sandalwood for figurines and furniture, which is very popular, especially in the Far East.

Sandalwood has long been used as a perfume by both men and women and is popularly used in homemade massage blends to create a sensual atmosphere.

For a wonderfully mellow massage oil, blend 3 drops of Sandalwood, 2 drops of Roman Chamomile and a drop of Frankincense in 20ml of Absolute Aromas Peach Kernel oil.
